Neck Botox in Brookline, MA for Smoother Neck Bands and a Defined Jawline

Neck Botox is a quick, non-surgical treatment that relaxes the platysma, the thin muscle that runs from the jaw down the front of the neck. When this muscle pulls too hard, it creates vertical neck bands and blurs the jawline. Small, precise doses of Botox® Cosmetic ease that pull, so your neck looks smoother and your jawline looks more defined.

At Aida Medical Aesthetics in Brookline, MA, near Boston, board-certified family nurse practitioner Neda Hosseininia performs every neck Botox treatment. The appointment takes about 15 minutes, there is no downtime, and results look natural, never frozen.

Neck Botox at a Glance

What it treats: vertical neck bands (platysma bands), a softened jawline, and mild neck lines.

FDA status: In October 2024, the FDA approved BOTOX® Cosmetic for moderate to severe platysma bands in adults. Other neck uses, and other neurotoxins in the neck, are off-label.

Treatment time: about 10 to 15 minutes, with no downtime.

Results: visible within a few days, with the full effect in about two weeks.

How long it lasts: about 3 to 4 months on average.

Cost: Botox is $15 per unit, and our Nefertiti Neck Lift starts at $650.

Who Is a Good Candidate for Neck Botox?

Neck Botox works best for adults whose neck bands show when they talk, smile, or tense the neck, and whose skin still has good elasticity. It may be right for you if you notice:

  • Vertical cords or bands running down the front of the neck
  • A jawline that looks less sharp than it used to
  • Neck bands that stand out in photos or when you speak
  • Early horizontal neck lines (results are modest and often paired with skin treatments)
  • A wish to avoid surgery and downtime

If loose skin or fullness under the chin is your main concern, Botox alone will not correct it. Neda may suggest Morpheus8 Cool RF microneedling to tighten skin, or dermal fillers for etched lines, on their own or alongside neck Botox.

How Neck Botox Works: What to Expect

  1. Consultation. Neda reviews your health history, watches how your neck muscles move, and explains whether neck Botox, another treatment, or a combination fits your goals.
  2. Mapping. She marks the active neck bands and points along the jawline.
  3. Injections. Tiny doses go into the bands and along the jawline with a very fine needle. The whole treatment takes about 10 to 15 minutes.
  4. Aftercare. You can return to your day right away. We will give you simple aftercare instructions, such as staying upright for a few hours and not massaging the area.
  5. Results. The bands soften over the next few days, with the full effect in about two weeks. Most people repeat treatment every 3 to 4 months to maintain results.

Neck Botox vs. TrapTox (Barbie Botox)

Both treatments involve the neck, but they target different muscles. Neck Botox treats the platysma at the front of the neck to soften bands and define the jawline. TrapTox treats the trapezius at the back of the neck and shoulders to slim the shoulder line and ease muscle tension. Learn more in our Body Botox section.

Safety and Side Effects

Common side effects are mild and temporary: redness, swelling, tenderness, or bruising where the needle went in, and sometimes a headache. Less common effects include neck weakness, hoarseness, or difficulty swallowing. Like all botulinum toxin products, Botox carries an FDA boxed warning that its effect can spread beyond the treated area, so get medical help right away if you have trouble swallowing, speaking, or breathing after treatment.

Neck Botox is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, for people with certain nerve and muscle conditions such as myasthenia gravis, or if there is an infection at the treatment site. Neda reviews your health history at your consultation to make sure the treatment is safe for you.

Neck Botox FAQs: Your Questions, Answered

Clear answers about neck Botox, the Nefertiti Neck Lift, cost, and results, so you can decide with confidence.

Neck Botox is an injectable treatment that relaxes the platysma muscle in the front of the neck. Relaxing this muscle softens vertical neck bands and reduces the downward pull on the jawline, so the neck looks smoother and the jaw looks more defined. At Aida Medical Aesthetics in Brookline, MA, Neda Hosseininia, FNP-BC, performs the treatment.

Yes, for neck bands. In October 2024, the FDA approved BOTOX® Cosmetic for the temporary improvement of moderate to severe vertical neck bands (platysma bands) in adults. Using Botox for other neck concerns, such as horizontal lines, or using other neurotoxins in the neck, is off-label, and Neda will explain your options at consultation.

In the FDA-approved dosing for platysma bands, the total dose is 26, 31, or 36 units, depending on how strong the bands are. Your treatment plan is personalized, so Neda confirms your exact number of units at your consultation.

At Aida Medical Aesthetics, Botox is $15 per unit, and the Nefertiti Neck Lift starts at $650. TrapTox (Barbie Neck Botox) for the back of the neck and shoulders starts at $850. Your final price depends on the units you need and is confirmed at your consultation.

Results usually last about 3 to 4 months. You may notice smoother neck bands within a few days, and the full effect appears in about two weeks. Regular treatments help maintain your results.

The Nefertiti Neck Lift is a neck Botox technique named after the Egyptian queen known for her elegant jawline. Small doses are placed along the jawline and into the neck bands to reduce the muscle pull that drags the lower face down, which gives a smoother neck and a sharper jaw without surgery.

Most people feel only quick pinches. The needle is very fine, and the treatment takes about 10 to 15 minutes. You can return to work and normal activities right away.

Botox can soften fine horizontal neck lines a little, but results are modest and this use is off-label. Deeper lines often respond better to dermal fillers or skin-tightening treatments such as Morpheus8 Cool, and many patients combine treatments.

Neck Botox is generally safe when performed by a trained, licensed injector. Common side effects are mild and short-lived, such as redness, swelling, or bruising. Rare side effects include neck weakness, hoarseness, or trouble swallowing. It is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding or for people with certain neuromuscular conditions.
